Start your job searchThe Finance Accountant is responsible for supporting the Finance Manager in enabling the company management team to make sound commercial decisions based on financial information and ensuring a strong control environment exists. This is a 6 month contract but can go to a permanent role for the right person, you do need to be available immediately.
Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities
- Responsible for Cost Management forecasting/planning and analysing variances to forecasts
- Work with the FM to ensure smooth operation of all finance matters.
- To chair monthly P&L reviews with the Sales Manager
- Act as the key liaison between Credit Control, Purchase ledger, Buying, Supply Chain and the finance function
- To investigate and answer routine queries arising from Budget Holders, Management and other Finance staff as well as customers and suppliers
- Prepare the monthly management accounts as well as the year end accounts
- Support the production of the budget and quarterly forecasts being responsible for all the cost lines
- Prepare and review of P&L and balance sheet reports for month end
- To apply accounting knowledge and techniques to all areas of work, including the production of journals, routine reports and variance analysis.
- To analyse financial information in response to queries from managers, suppliers and customers.
- To identify and resolve errors and discrepancies.
- To plan, organize and manage own workload to ensure your contribution to the departments monthly and financial reporting process is achieved in a timely and accurate manner.
- To input accounting data into SAGE & SAP with speed and accuracy.
- To create, develop and maintain accounting spreadsheets used in the Finance function.
- Reporting and monitoring the division's key performance indicators; sales, profitability ratios, and investigating variances to budget or year on year movements

- Excellent commercial acumen and a good eye for detail, coupled with a strong academic background

- Computer literate with good excel skills and solid understanding of accounting software principles
